The Echo-5Q project is the result of an industry collaboration between FormFactor Inc, Tabor Electronics LLC and QuantWare. The goal of the project was to redefine small-scale quantum computing, utilising the longevity and experience of major quantum technology suppliers and build the highest performing system for under $1M.
The quantum computing market is expanding at a rapid rate and the need for a trained quantum workforce increases every year. The Echo-5Q has been designed as a turnkey solution to lower the barriers of entry for any organisation to become involved in the quantum computing revolution. The Echo-5Q is a tool designed for scientists and engineers to push the bounds of technology and cultivate the next generation of the quantum workforce.
The system consists of the FormFactor LF-600 Cryogen-free Dilution Refrigerator, the QuantWare Soprano-D 5-qubit QPU and the Tabor Proteus Direct to RF Control Electronics. The open-source software stack is Python based and is easy to use for the novice, but flexible enough for the demands of the experimentalist.
An initial setup has reached T1s in excess of 100 us: an improvement of 250% in T1 times compared to similar full stack computing solutions. This is due to the industry-leading cooling properties of the FormFactor dilution refrigerator, the digital direct to RF control electronics from the Tabor that reduce the complexity in the cabling system and the industry-leading manufacturing processes of QuantWare.
